Animal Kingdom is looking great to arise as the victor of the 136th Preakness, the second leg of the coveted Triple Crown. Animal Kingdom made an unforeseen grab at the roses at the recent Derby, handily overtaking the field of competitors to win the first leg of the Triple Crown. Although he wasn’t a fave for the Derby, Animal Kingdom is sitting on actually great prospects for the Preakness. Preakness betting experts are giving 2-1 prospects that Animal Kingdom will again arise victorious, giving him a shot to run for the 3rd leg of the Triple Crown coming up at the belmont. Animal Kingdom is joined by a couple of other competitors from the recent Derby who are also expected to make a solid exhibiting this weekend. Also rated hugely in the preakness stakes betting associations are Derby finishers Mucho Macho Man and Dialed In. Early fave Nehro has been removed from the competition but is expected to run in the 3rd leg of the Triple Crown at the belmont. Horse racing enthusiasts are keeping on eye on both Mucho Macho Man and Dialed In to make a big exhibiting at this weekend’s contest, possibly preventing Animal Kingdom from taking the leading honors. Among the factors that Animal Kingdom has going vs him is the post position that he’s drawn of 11. Merely two winners of the preakness stakes since 1926 have come out of the 11th post position. The field is wide open for any mount and jockey to take the trophy home, as the preakness stakes contains a full field of fourteen horses this year for the first time in 6 years. The prospects of Dialed In, who was the fave for the Derby but finished in a disappointing 8th place, are 9-2, whereas the prospects of Mucho Macho Man taking the prize are 6-1.
