On Tuesday as the Netherlands confront Uruguay in the semifinals, they will be favored by World Cup wagering probabilities in sports betting.

The field is starting to get pared down and the only the greatest of the greatest remain after nearly three weeks of World Cup wagering competition in sportsbook betting. After dozens of competitions, a handful of rotten calls by referees and non-stop symphony of vuvuzela blowing the World Cup wagering field has been whittled down to just a few squads, all vying for the biggest prize in sports wagering.

The final 8 was stuffed with expected soccer betting powerhouses, as usual, but there were also a handful of unpredicted squads that are still around and still have a possibility at bringing home a World Cup betting title. It is in fact pretty surprising how many of the less-favored squads proceeded to the semifinals, some for the first time in history, or at least in many years.

Uruguay got past Ghana while the Netherlands removed favored Brazil in the quarterfinals. The Netherlands is a -160 fave in World Cup probabilities to win Tuesday’s competition versus Uruguay that can be watched on ESPN.

World Cup betting probabilities list the Netherlands at -160, Uruguay at +490 and the Draw at +255. The over is at -130 while the total on the competition is 2. Uruguay will be shorthanded on Tuesday as they will be without striker Luis Suarez who was suspended for this competition because of his handball versus Ghana. Leading defender Jorge Fucile, who is also suspended for this competition, also will not be playing for Uruguay.

Devoid of Suarez’s handball the squad would have lost to Ghana, so he genuinely was the hero for Uruguay. The squads were even 1-1 after regulation time, so they went into extra time. In the last minute, Suarez kept a possibility from the Uruguay goal using his hands and then Ghana striker Asamoah Gyan struck the crossbar with his penalty shot. Uruguay went on to win the competition 4-2 on penalty kicks.

The biggest issue for the Netherlands could be a disappointment. They are arriving from a very emotional win over Brazil and now they’ve got to avoid overlooking a Uruguay squad without 2 of their biggest players. Diego Forlan, who is a very dangerous striker, will still be playing for Uruguay, and they will be determined to make the final. The Netherlands won all of their 8 qualifying games and now they have won all five of their World Cup games. If they can avoid a disappointment they ought to win this competition versus Uruguay and make the final.

Recent World Cup probabilities history has seen only five squads involved in the final. Brazil, Argentina, France, Germany and Italy are the only five squads to have competed for the World Cup title since 1982. There will be at least 1 new squad this year since the victor of this competition between Uruguay and the Netherlands will be in the final. There could be another newcomer if Spain beats Germany on Wednesday in the other semifinal. There will be a brand new World Cup victor this year if the Netherlands and Spain both win their semifinals matches.
